Reaching Round

The Earth’s sphere
Has round intent

And yet….

They take her
Hands cloaked in avarice gloves
A dominion of slick suited force
…..off course….

She is the curved bow of lovers' lips
She is the timeless circle of life
The full gamut of dawn risen on mid noon on firefly nights
And up again,
Reliable, bountiful, alive….she thrives
Her depths are an infinite well of ocean wonder and lower still….
She spins, she spins again, again, giving, delivering

And yet

She is taken and cut into sides of
I am and you’re not
Of
I have and you wont
Forced to watch the toxic breath of warring tyrants
seep through her soil and splatter blood for no good
no good at all, at all.
Choked and cloaked in a jacket of ill,
Squashed sideways into smoky, poky stairwells
Re-formed in pyramid styles and selfish piles

And yet

Pyramids have bottom ends and lonely pointed gold leafed tops of which she is not, she is not…
They have edges that can slide you to the bottom
They have edges you can fall right over the top of
They have people reaching for that golden crown far too high in another man's sky….

And so

Come take a walk round the Sun with me
She is round
She is bold
She is warm
She is dawn….

Come take a walk round the Moon with me
He is round
He is bright
He is light
He is might ….

Come take a walk round the Earth with me

We are life
We are love
We are one
We
are
Round reaching
Inside
And
Out…

Parity’s Night

An undernourished freedom now sweeps our southern land
That barely whispered out against a term of winter’s hand
The axe that fell cut certainly, no fanfare or farewell
That barely could stand out against a tabloid caravel
A commissioner derailed, economized and sent to bed
The clocks struck none, a backwards run with parity unfed…

The night grew thick and justice sick
Where one man cried their warning
It’s not okay to take away
The sovereignty of morning

It’s he who’s marched in those twin shoes has voice to know the way
Now let her sing and access well, the light of every day…
A day where we must unify for what is good and right
A day where opportunity can dance and live and fight.

Not placed upon a pedestal or trodden down in height
But given time and place to work with voice ascending flight….
Side by side protest we must
Keep marching to the beat,
And cry out loud defiantly
Thrash wild an ireful heat

As agents of their destiny
As people who may choose
Rescind, revoke impeding walls
Or dignity shall loose…

Agents of their destiny
People
One and
All
Let our voices cry out loud
Oh….
Never let them
Fall….
Oh never let them fall…
