Honeydew Miner

Stay Merri
Merry Melody.....
Stay Merry if you will.
The creek before
bereft regard
in haste,
all tainted ill.

To gibbet, garrot, gag and throttle,
congest and clog and bar,
they came at you with plastic pockets
filled and trilled with tar.

Remember Merry Melody
Remember if you might,
The miners some deserted you -
The miners some with fight.
With little swords in little hordes
of fairy wrens
and throats of yellow,
of lorikeets and maggie's lark
were sweet and wild and mellow.

Just look upon the Bellbird dear,
and think upon her life,
and though the call all
melancholy
yet oh the courage rife.
She found the domes all true love
all fruit and full and fair,
now armed with bells of honeydew
and bathed in every care.

Did you see her soar and flutter,
Did you see her plant and hatch the new?
Did you hear the bulwark call to joust
a lonely rancid flu?
They heard her darling Melody,
The Bells rang true to chime
and one and two and many then
with love that swung in time.

Remember this my Melody
Merri is the chime
Stay Merry
Darlin'
Melody,
Merry then
the
Rhyme....

Flora's Cup

Marred and Maimed
Swaggered and strained
She thought of Flora in May,
The Nymph
and the Shepherd
Rembrandt
and a Zephyr
adrift on the river of fey.
Aloft and of told
See how proudly to hold
Was the white and the gold
of Anemoi
all wings and light
all springs delight
The Breath of life
her dew joy.
And next submerged
in nectar true
of tea and fruit and myrrh,
the time was rife
for toasting love
and pleasure there
of might
of life.
She brought the rose
all cupped
all new
for me
for you
in double due
and from her hands
she set the float of
tender time
and lovers kind.
Down the rivers run
Her rose
to herald peace
for all
in one.

Turquoise and Linen

When I came too,
Beyond shaky spectres
Fiendish foe
and a pother
of cagey breath,
We got to the ocean
And there were no shoes then...
No teetering piked heels
or lacquered coarse casings...
Because we took them off
And the carpet was all sandy oatmeal,
all lush and snug and sunny
like you are.
That ocean today
Was the best we'd seen -
Ribboned blue and green
How can one colour be so many
I asked?
And that a sign of the life there.
The magnificent turquoise talisman sea
was wearing her skirt
upon skirt -
Navy under deep sapphire under turquoise and white....
dancing in time to
the shape of rolling dunes
dressed in beloved linen chemises
and fierce grasses
And we felt better for it too
For the parity of the wild and the mild
in love.
