Pastel

That place
where the light goes soft focus
And all with less edges
And all with pastel and confetti
Like gelati by the beach
In a holiday cocoon
That slows clocks and
Calls birds to soar and play
I love it there.

That place
with the tiniest heart flickering new
Made by two
Then many
Sweet coo hello
In the hullabaloo  of life
That remembers circles
And roundabouts
At the fair…..
I love it there too.

That place with skin
That folds into soft
Histories and doesn’t
Need to be stretched
Backwards or fixed
Into position
That says I’ve travelled
A long way
And done so much
I’m proud and I’m
Still alive and I know much more
Than before
I want to go there on a boat made of remembering
And adventures more.

That place that feels like gentle boomerangs
In slow motion
Made of feathers and flights and reply
That picks you up and spins you round
and makes you feel so much better.
I love it there
I love it there too.
I’d send you there too if I knew how

So here’s the best I could do
Only to say look up
The sky is lilac when you wait for sundown
The sun is lemon when the clouds pass through
The duck egg blue will hatch a new
The apricots are pale in a misty spring
And I am here

To love you.
