The Bus Ride

Way In…

Took a bus ride once upon a time
In forever
Packed room for a case and a couple
Of hearts.
Took a bus ride once upon a time
In together.
Unblinking to loss
Wide awake to a boy’s bony shoulder
Unfettered by any competition with
Life’s motion sick madness
All bumpity bump and imperfect.

Way Out…

Jumpity jump, took a bus ride
One step, two step
Took a bus ride
Once upon a time
On A Sunday
Where a little mini
Front seat rider took my place.
Once upon a time
In learning the hard way
That not all buses
Are Hollywood dreams
Or rambling freedom
Or happy endings.
Took a bus ride
Behind the Wall
Of not being chosen

Rolled up my sleeves
And sewed back
In place the fragments
Of a bruised heart.
