Offspring

The progeny of love
Is to me a sensation
Like the curl of a wave
Warmed by sunlight
And alive in rivers
That run red from
The heart and out
To the fingertips
And toes.
Like the spring
Of a jack in the box
Smiling
That might randomly
Pop free without
The asking
Like a tree that
Is suddenly
Coloured by blooms
To completion
Like something you
Didn’t know to exist
Until one day
You knew it did
For sure
Like a beautiful feeling
that
Might graft onto affection
And grow to a larger tree
Every day
Like loyal
Is the long distance
Chariot
Like "off" got a set of springs
To turn on
The heart switch.
Like a beating heart
That added a duet
Or a choir.
It’s not something
You forget
It’s dazzling
In all the right ways.
